Applying Lessons Learned from Montgomery County to Foster Religious Literacy

On June 27, 2017 the State Department invited Mehreen Farooq to speak on a panel during their symposium on Teaching Religious Tolerance, Peace Studies, and Foreign Policy. The panel was coordinated by MCPD teacher, Christopher Murray, who included the symposium in his second annual week-long course on Religious Literacy for Educators. Ms. Farooq discussed WORDE’s holistic efforts to mobilize multiple faith communities through applied principles of social integration theory to promote social cohesion and to prevent radicalization to violent extremism.
